There are a number of flight schools available in the Chicago area. Here are two we have chosen just to give you an idea of what is out there:

Chicago Executive Flight School – Wheeling, IllinoisFlying Lessons in Chicago: Chicago Executive Flight School

The Chicago Executive Flight School markets itself as the number one flight school in the Chicago area. Since 1994, they have been providing private and commercial flight training at their Cessna-approved facility north of the downtown area. The one-time single-aircraft flight school has grown over the last 20 years to become the largest flight school in Chicago.

In addition to private and commercial pilot training, Chicago Executive also offers total immersion flights for individuals who are curious about flying but not ready to commit the lessons. A total immersion flight pairs you with a certified pilot who walks you through every detail of a typical flight. You will learn how to inspect a plane, create and file a flight plan, and operate the controls of the plane. About the only thing you will not be able to do is land the aircraft.

Should you decide to take lessons, Chicago Executive offers you the opportunity to experience what it's like to fly in and out of one of the busiest cities in the world. This invaluable experience will prepare you to fly just about anywhere. Chicago Executive offers every student the following:

  • Facilities – The flight school's facilities are located at the Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois. Chicago Executive is considered a municipal Airport; it includes three paved runways and more than 400 acres of space. The facility itself is right at the edge of the runway with enough windows to let you take in all the action. And with comfort and state-of-the-art technology built-in, it's a great place to learn to fly.
  • Training Programmes – Executive Chicago offers a number of different programmes starting with the basic private pilot certificate. You can add more certificates including solo pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot and certified flight instructor. In order to begin training, you'll first have to take a total immersion flight in order determine whether or not you have what it takes to learn to fly.
  • Training Costs – The training costs for the various programmes are in line with the training you receive. The complete private pilot certificate will run you about $9,000; solo flight certification starts at $1,500. Executive Chicago offers financial assistance through Pilot Finance Inc.

Chicago Executive Flight School is enrolling new students on a regular basis. If you think you would like to learn to fly with them, sign up for your total immersion flight right away. Executive Chicago says that less than 0.1% of the total population ever learns to fly a plane. Will you be one of those who do?
